Water Town Culture

Luzhi was formerly known as Fuli, and four earlier local gazetteers have been preserved: during the Kangxi era, Chen Weizhong compiled the twelve-volume “Fuli Gazetteer of Wu County”; in the Qianlong period, Peng Fangzhou revised and expanded Chen’s work into the twenty-four-volume “Fuli Gazetteer”; in the Guangxu era, Xu Qi and his son Xu Yuying undertook a supplementary revision, producing a single volume titled “Draft Fuli Gazetteer,” which concludes at the thirteenth year of the Tongzhi reign; and during the Guangxu period, a handwritten copy of the “Fuli Gazetteer” was produced in three volumes.
