Walking along the old street of Luzhi, you’ll find numerous embroidery shops and studios lining both sides. Among them, “Moli Embroidery Studio” is nestled by the picturesque Jinli Bridge. Its owner, Chen Lihua, currently serves as a director on the Folk Arts Branch of the Suzhou Folk Artists Association and is a master craftsman in the arts and crafts field. Though born in the 1980s, she has been devoted to embroidery for more than two decades. She fell in love with the craft at the age of six and began creating Suzhou embroidery at twelve, studying under the renowned masters Yao Huifen and Yao Huiqin.
