Strolling along the old street of Luzhi, one finds numerous embroidery workshops and studios lining both sides. Among them, “Moli Embroidery Workshop” is nestled by the picturesque Jinli Bridge. Its owner, Chen Lihua, currently serves as a director on the Folk Arts Branch of the Suzhou Folk Artists Association and is a master craftsman in the arts and crafts field. Though born in the 1980s, she has devoted more than two decades to embroidery: she fell in love with the craft at the age of six and began creating Suzhou embroidery at twelve, studying under the renowned masters Yao Huifen and Yao Huiqin.
Chen Lihua’s embroidery works are exquisitely refined and elegant, characterized by meticulous craftsmanship, versatile stitching techniques, graceful motifs, and vividly lifelike imagery. They have earned high praise from numerous Suzhou‑style embroidery enthusiasts and are greatly beloved by visitors. Her pieces have also been honored with prestigious awards at multiple folk art festivals, arts and crafts exhibitions, and fine‑arts craft expos.
