To further enhance the safety awareness and emergency response capabilities of cultural and tourism professionals, the “Wuzhong District Tourism Industry Comprehensive Safety Drill,” organized by the District Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, was held on the afternoon of July 15 at the Luzhi Ancient Town Scenic Area. The event was attended by the bureau’s leading officials and heads of relevant departments, as well as safety officers and full-time safety personnel from all A‑level tourist attractions, key rural tourism villages, star‑rated hotels, designated registered homestays, and selected travel agencies in Wuzhong District.

　　This event was divided into three phases. First, attendees observed a live emergency response drill at the scenic area, which simulated a collision between a food delivery rider and a tourist at the entrance, resulting in a head injury with bleeding. The scenic area immediately activated its emergency plan, with on-site command coordinating all operations: safety officers, evacuation teams, and information‑liaison groups each fulfilled their respective duties, while 120 (emergency medical services) and 122 (traffic police) were alerted to provide rescue and conduct accident investigations, maintain order, and clear obstacles. Meanwhile, the medical team promptly arrived to administer first aid—stopping the bleeding and stabilizing the injured tourist—before arranging for transport to a hospital. Traffic police subsequently arrived to inspect the scene, gather evidence, and determine liability. Throughout the drill, Luzhi Ancient Town demonstrated swift and effective responses, with all teams remaining calm, working in close coordination, and collaborating seamlessly to manage the emergency situation.

Next, the participants gathered in the second-floor conference room of the visitor center for a medical first-aid training session. They watched a safety‑education awareness video and received a detailed briefing on the Suzhou Municipal Regulations on Work Safety. A specially invited expert conducted hands-on training in basic wound care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Under the expert’s guidance, attendees systematically acquired practical first-aid knowledge and skills, ensuring they can respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies in the future.

　　Finally, the experts invited participants to personally experience two emergency‑response devices—the electric‑shock accident simulator and the CPR training manikin—thereby enhancing their skills in preventing electric shocks and in resuscitating patients experiencing respiratory and cardiac arrest to restore spontaneous breathing and circulation. At the same time, the experts provided a detailed demonstration of fire extinguisher operation and the proper donning of firefighting protective gear, further improving attendees’ proficiency with firefighting equipment and their capabilities in fire suppression and rescue operations. Through this training, participants not only gained valuable expertise in safety but also broadened their perspectives and strengthened their safety awareness. For those working in the tourism industry, this was undoubtedly a meaningful opportunity to upgrade their knowledge and capabilities, providing solid theoretical foundations and practical guidance to navigate the challenges of safety management and advance steadily in the future.
