On May 26, a Party and government delegation—led by Ge Fulin, Secretary of the Mudu Town Party Committee, and comprising members of the town’s four leading teams, heads of government departments and town‑affiliated enterprises, as well as secretaries of several administrative villages, totaling nearly 50 participants—visited Luzhi Town for an inspection and study tour. Zhou Peigen, Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, along with relevant leaders of our town, accompanied the delegation.

On May 21, a 12-member delegation from Qingdao’s Tourism Bureau, led by Deputy Director Jiang Xiukai, paid a fact-finding visit to the Luzhi Scenic Area. The delegation was accompanied by Deputy Director Li Bin of Suzhou’s Tourism Bureau and General Manager Zhou Xuezhong of the Luzhi Tourism Company, among others.

On the afternoon of May 19, a six-member research delegation led by experts from the Wu Culture Research Association visited Luzhi Ancient Town to conduct an inspection and study. The group included former senior officials of Wuxian County who once oversaw Luzhi Town’s affairs, as well as veteran scholars who have long been dedicated to the field of Wu culture research. They were accompanied on their visit by Mayor Wu Jinquan of the Luzhi Town Government, Trade Union Chairman Wu Qiurong, and General Manager Zhou Xuezhong of the tourism company.

The inaugural annual conference of the Taihu Culture Forum is scheduled to take place in Suzhou, China, on May 18–19, 2011. The forum plans to convene every two years, with the theme of “Strengthening Dialogue and Cooperation Among Civilizations to Promote Global Harmony and Development.” Following China’s Boao Forum for Asia, it is the first national-level social organization established by drawing on the model and experience of the Davos Forum, dedicated to advancing Chinese cultural development and fostering cultural exchanges between China and other countries. It also represents China’s first culturally branded initiative—named after a forum—that has been independently created as a non-governmental civic organization.
