On May 26, a delegation from the Party and government of Mudu Town paid a visit to Luzhi for an inspection and study tour.

On May 26, a Party and government delegation—led by Ge Fulin, Secretary of the Mudu Town Party Committee, and comprising members of the town’s four leading teams, heads of government departments and town‑affiliated enterprises, as well as secretaries of several administrative villages—visited Luzhi Town for an inspection and study tour. Zhou Peigen, Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, along with relevant leaders of our town, accompanied the delegation.
The delegation from Mudu first arrived at the Luzhi Ancient Town Scenic Area, where the leaders visited such attractions as Baosheng Temple—one of the “Four Hundred and Eighty Monasteries of the Southern Dynasties”—as well as the Shen Residence, the Xiao Residence, and the Wang Tao Memorial Hall, along with the Jiangnan Cultural Park. At the Ancient Relics Museum, the delegation admired the renowned half‑hall clay sculptures of arhats at Baosheng Temple, a nationally designated key cultural relic protection site. In the West Courtyard, they witnessed a grand performance of the Luzhi Lianxiang Dance, featuring a troupe of over 200 performers whose vivid costumes and props, combined with the lively rhythm of the dance and the richly distinctive Wu‑style music evoking the charm of the water towns, left the delegation thoroughly captivated. At the Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, the leaders carefully examined exhibits showcasing the outstanding achievements of Mr. Ye Shengtao, a revered educator and role model for generations, in education, literature, and social engagement.
Inside the Henghua Pavilion of the Wang Tao Memorial Hall, the delegation also enjoyed the Luzhi Xuanjuan performance “A Playful Tale of Luzhi,” which, drawing on local historical records and weaving in relevant folk legends from Luzhi Town, vividly elucidates the origins of the name “Luzhi.” The town’s long and enduring history and culture left the delegation deeply impressed.
At the Jiangnan Cultural Park, the delegation toured the Historical and Cultural Museum and the Women’s Costume Museum, and enjoyed performances by the Water Town Art Troupe, including water‑town dances and Suzhou tan ci. The park’s picturesque scenery and the vibrant cultural shows staged on its ancient opera platform left a deep impression on the members of the delegation.
