On July 19, Suzhou City convened a citywide on-site conference on the construction of beautiful towns and villages (urban areas) in Luzhi Town. Attending the meeting were municipal leaders including Zhou Naixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor; Chen Zhenyi, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; and Vice Mayors Xu Huimin, Wang Guorong, Gu Haidong, and Zhou Wei, along with principal officials from the Municipal Agricultural Commission, the Housing and Urban–Rural Development Bureau, the Planning Department, and the Urban Appearance and Municipal Services Administration. Also present were the principal and responsible leaders of the governments of all cities and districts, as well as relevant departments, together with approximately 130 participants, including the Party secretaries of the towns where the city’s 16 demonstration sites for beautiful town construction are located.

The Luzhi Ancient Town Management Committee organized inspection tours for the “Summer Environmental Sanitation Campaign.”

To earnestly implement the “Luzhi Town Summer Environmental Sanitation Campaign for All,” and to effectively advance the development of an eco‑friendly and aesthetically pleasing Luzhi, in accordance with relevant directives, the Ancient Town Management Committee of Luzhi Town recently joined forces with departments including village construction, traffic management, health promotion, water resources, and urban administration to conduct inspections of key areas and road segments within the jurisdiction.

The Ancient Town Management Committee’s Urban Management Squad of the Luzhi Urban Management Brigade has been officially established.

On March 28, the Luzhi Urban Management Brigade held a ceremony to establish the urban management squad under the Ancient Town Management Committee of Luzhi Town. Wu Qiurong, a member of the Town Party Committee and Director of the Ancient Town Management Committee, and Hong Taosheng, Deputy Town Mayor, attended the ceremony.

The Luzhi Town Federation of Trade Unions convened a working conference for grassroots trade unions.

On the afternoon of March 22, the General Trade Union of Luzhi Town convened a working conference with the trade union federations of all villages (communities) and enterprise trade unions. The meeting reviewed and summarized the town’s trade union work for 2012, commended a number of advanced collectives and individuals, outlined the tasks for 2013, and signed target responsibility agreements with the trade union federations of each village (community). Ju Hairong, Deputy Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The Luozhi Town Information Liaison Officer Training Course Has Begun.

On March 23, the new‑year training course for information officers officially commenced at the Luozhi Town Party School. Veteran journalist Gu Xiangnan from Suzhou Radio and Television Station delivered the first engaging session to more than 50 information liaisons representing the town’s villages (communities), government departments, and town‑affiliated enterprises.

Luzhi Town Held a Coordination Meeting on Safety Measures for Qingming Tomb-Sweeping Activities.

Qingming Festival is a traditional holiday during which the Chinese people express their grief and commemorate their loved ones. The annual Qingming tomb-sweeping activities constitute a large-scale public event. To ensure the safety and orderly conduct of these activities in 2013, safeguard the personal and property security of the public, and maintain social stability, Luzhi Town convened a coordination meeting on March 22 to address safety measures for the Qingming tomb-sweeping period.
