The Luzhi Town Federation of Trade Unions convened a working conference for grassroots trade unions.

On the afternoon of March 22, the General Trade Union of Luzhi Town convened a working conference with the trade union federations of all villages (communities) and enterprise trade unions. The meeting reviewed and summarized the town’s trade union work for 2012, commended a number of advanced collectives and individuals, outlined the tasks for 2013, and signed target responsibility agreements with the trade union federations of each village (community). Ju Hairong, Deputy Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting was conducted in four agenda items. First, Wu Qiurong, a member of the Town Party Committee and Chairman of the Town Federation of Trade Unions, delivered a report on the trade union work of Luzhi Town for 2012 and outlined the key priorities for 2013. Comrade Wu summarized the 2012 trade union efforts under five “new” themes and set forth specific expectations for 2013, highlighting “five new breakthroughs.” During the subsequent awards ceremony, a number of district- and town-level advanced grassroots units—including the Funan Village Trade Union, the Jiangwan Village Trade Union, Tengxing Industrial, Liu Daowan, and others—were honored. While reviewing past experiences and breaking down tasks, the 18 village (community) trade unions across the town each signed their 2013 target responsibility agreements with the Town Federation of Trade Unions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ju Hairong, Deputy Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, delivered a speech. Secretary Ju carefully listened to the conference’s work report, fully commended the efforts made by trade union organizations at all levels throughout the town in 2012, and, while celebrating their achievements and sharing their successes, expressed earnest expectations. He emphasized that all trade union organizations in the town must consistently align themselves with the principles of implementing the Scientific Outlook on Development and orienting their work around the overall interests of the community; they should innovate platforms and mechanisms to fully harness the enthusiasm and initiative of workers and the broader workforce; uphold a people‑centered approach to effectively safeguard the rights and interests of employees; and, guided by the spirit of keeping pace with the times, strengthen the internal development of trade union organizations. Grounded in the bigger picture, they must maintain high morale, unite in pursuit of progress, pursue practical results through diligent effort, and elevate the town’s trade union work to a new level, striving tirelessly for an even brighter future for Luzhi.
