Luzhi Town Held a Coordination Meeting on Safety Measures for Qingming Tomb-Sweeping Activities.

Qingming Festival is a traditional holiday during which the Chinese people express their grief and commemorate their loved ones. The annual Qingming tomb-sweeping activities constitute a large-scale public event. To ensure the safety and orderly conduct of these activities in 2013, safeguard the personal and property security of the public, and maintain social stability, Luzhi Town convened a coordination meeting on March 22 to address safety measures for the Qingming tomb-sweeping period. Attending the meeting were Wang Min, Secretary of the Town Discipline Inspection Commission; Zhu Xuexin, Vice Chairman of the Town People’s Congress; and heads of relevant departments, including work safety supervision, civil affairs, comprehensive governance, the police station, the fire department, traffic police, urban management, Chengdong Village, the tourism company, and Luzhi Mausoleum Park.
The meeting featured a lively discussion on the guidance and management of Qingming tomb-sweeping activities, during which a detailed safety plan was formulated and relevant contingency measures were proposed. Concurrently, the meeting established the Luzhi Town 2013 Qingming Festival Tomb-Sweeping Safety Leading Group, chaired by Secretary Wang Min, and designated specific personnel to oversee the implementation of the safety plan.
The meeting made it clear that, in anticipation of potential short-term surges in pedestrian and vehicular traffic, in order to alleviate pressure on related infrastructure and venues and to respond promptly to emergencies, all relevant departments must assign specific duties to designated posts, further strengthen organizational leadership, and develop comprehensive plans for safety assurance, traffic management, public outreach, and emergency response. At the same time, inter‑agency communication and coordination must be enhanced, with stricter safety inspections at memorial sites and improved oversight of the quality of memorial services, thereby bolstering safety measures at these locations. In addition, the public should be encouraged to engage in civilized mourning practices, and a culture of healthy, respectful Qingming traditions should be promoted, ensuring the achievement of the goal of “civilized remembrance and a safe, peaceful Qingming Festival.”
