A delegation led by the President of the International Slow Cities Federation conducted an inspection and research visit to Luzhi International Slow City.

On April 2, Mr. Mauro Migliorini, President of the International Slow Cities Federation Headquarters, and Mr. Pier Giorgio Oliveti, Secretary-General of the same organization, paid a visit to Luzhi Ancient Town (Suzhou Chenghu International Slow City) to conduct an in-depth field assessment of the town’s operations and development as an international slow city. They were accompanied by Kong Zhihui, Director of the Management Committee of the Gaochun International Slow City Tourism and Resort Zone in Jiangsu Province; Zhang Lei, Deputy Director; Wang Fan, Chinese Ambassador for Slow Cities; Zhu Huaping, Mayor of Luzhi Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou; Zhang Chunmao, Member of the Town Party Committee; and other relevant officials.
Chairman Moro Miglini, Secretary-General Pier Giorgio Olivetti, and their delegation conducted on-site inspections of the Suzhou Chenghu Aviation Flight Camp, the Luzhi Ancient Town Scenic Area, and other locations, where they heard briefings from the respective site managers on the progress of related operations and management.
Following the inspection, the assessment team held a symposium. Town Mayor Zhu Huaping and Committee Member Zhang Chunmao discussed, in light of the first- and second-phase improvements to the quality of business formats in Luzhi Ancient Town and the third-phase protective development, the current state of affairs regarding the construction of supporting facilities for the Luzhi International Slow City, the organization of events, the development of tourism products, and the promotion of intangible cultural heritage. President Moro Miglioni and Secretary-General Pier Giorgio Olivetti expressed their full appreciation for the longstanding efforts of the Luzhi International Slow City. They noted that the International Slow Cities Annual Conference will be held in Asolo, Italy, this June, bringing together 297 member cities from around the world—a valuable opportunity to showcase successful practices, share experiences, and learn from local models of urban development and traditional ways of life in areas such as education and healthcare, agricultural production, employment, and cultural preservation—thereby further advancing the slow‑city movement and putting its guiding principles into practice.
