Leaders from the Suzhou Municipal Maritime Safety Administration visited the Luzhi Scenic Area to provide guidance on passenger boat safety.

This morning, officials from the Suzhou Municipal Maritime Safety Administration and the Wuzhong District Maritime Office paid a visit to Luzhi to inspect the safety of tourist boats in the scenic area. At the same time, the maritime authorities conducted a safety‑training session for the boat operators on the waterways. Zhao Hongming, Deputy General Manager of the Luzhi Tourism Development Company, and Shen Jusheng, Director of the Tourist Boat Department, attended the training meeting.
The training covers essential safety guidelines for operating tour boats, including the requirement to equip each vessel with life jackets, instructing passengers not to move about freely while onboard, and ensuring that boarding and disembarking are carried out only when the boat is securely docked, all in order to safeguard passenger safety.
At the same time, requirements were set for safety management, with particular emphasis on issues such as passenger overloading and excessive weight on the ship’s sides. It was stressed that even when navigating small inland waterways, safety must never be taken lightly, and the Wududu boat‑overboard incident was cited as a cautionary example.
The training session mandated that all boatwomen pass the training and obtain certification before taking up their posts.
