This morning, Cheng Fei, Director of the Wuzhong District Tourism Bureau, led the entire bureau leadership team to Luzhi for a field inspection of tourism-related work.
At a symposium held in the company’s conference room, Wu Qiurong, Chairman of the Town Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of the Luzhi Town Government, began by briefing the district bureau leadership on the progress of the tourism master plan and project development: the Luzhi Tourism Master Plan and the 5A‑level upgrade strategy have undergone multiple rounds of expert review and are expected to be finalized within the year. In line with the plan and the 5A rating criteria, the scenic area will comprehensively accelerate the upgrading of its tourism‑related infrastructure. For 2012, Luzhi plans to allocate 76 million yuan, with priority given to advancing construction on projects including the scenic area’s visitor service center, the second visitor center in the cinema district, the renovation and improvement of the area east of Fengqiao Bridge, and the Zhang Sheng Art Museum.
Secondly, General Manager Zhou Xuezhong reported on the company’s efforts in tourism management and market development. He stated that this year, the scenic area has comprehensively advanced standardization initiatives, seamlessly integrating national, local, and industry standards into its operations, with a particular focus on formulating a regional standard for Jiangnan hand‑rowed boat services. The company has implemented meticulous internal management, launched “Smile Service” campaigns, and organized competitions such as “Star‑Rated Boatwomen” and “Quarterly Service Stars,” while also participating in the Travel Expo and winning a silver award. In terms of market development, the company has adopted a precision‑driven approach, taking part in major travel expos across northern, northwestern, and southern China. It has signed agreements with leading travel agencies—including Beijing National Travel Service and Guangzhou Travel Service—establishing deep partnerships to jointly launch tour itineraries to Luzhi. On the digital front, the company has staged numerous promotional campaigns on platforms like Tongcheng and Tuniu, as well as engaging events such as spring outings and flower‑viewing tours, and “Exploring Luzhi Alongside Textbooks,” all of which have generated significant buzz. Building on the momentum of the World Expo Tourism Year, visitor numbers have continued to rise by nearly 13%.
At the meeting, Deputy Directors Wang Hanhong, Dai Amin, Xu Min, and Jiang Hongping each delivered remarks in turn.
After hearing the reports from all participants, Director Cheng Fei delivered an important address. She began by expressing full appreciation for the work that Luzhi has accomplished this year in tourism management and market development, commending the achievements attained. She then summarized six key characteristics of Luzhi’s tourism sector this year:
1. Market expansion has been vibrant and robust, climbing steadily to new heights;
2. The hand-cranked boat has become a standout feature, enhancing the brand’s image.
3. Daily management measures are well-implemented and have yielded significant results;
4. Tourism planning drives development, with a promising vision;
5. Rationally develop tourism projects to enhance long-term sustainability;
6. 5 A Create with unwavering dedication and clear objectives.
And put forward three requirements:
1. Conduct in-depth research into the patterns governing the development of ancient-town tourism, and adopt innovative, pragmatic approaches to expand capacity and upgrade infrastructure.
2. Conduct an in-depth study of the current state of rural tourism in the Jiangnan region and develop eco-tourism products centered on Chenghu Lake.
3. Conduct in-depth research into cutting-edge best practices from both domestic and international high-end tourism models, and advance the 5A certification process in an orderly manner.
Chairman Wu and General Manager Zhou expressed their gratitude for the guidance and support of their superiors. Following the meeting, they will organize study sessions to thoroughly implement the spirit of the directives, thereby making even greater contributions to Luzhi tourism and Wuzhong tourism.
