To raise public awareness of the true nature and dangers of cults and to strengthen people’s ability to resist and guard against them, a town-wide anti-cult publicity conference was held in Chengdong Village on the morning of December 20.

At the meeting, Zhang Zhenhua, Deputy Director of the District Committee’s 610 Office and Secretary-General of the District Anti-Cult Association, delivered a special lecture on the nature of cults, the distinctions between cults and religions, the characteristics and harms of cults, and the current efforts to combat cult organizations such as “Falun Gong” and “Shi Ti Shen.” The lecture drew on numerous real‑world examples, providing attendees with a vivid and informative lesson on anti-cult awareness. Meanwhile, Wang Jianxin, Deputy Head of the Luzhi Police Station, outlined the tangible threats posed by cults like “Shi Ti Shen” and reviewed the relevant laws and regulations applicable to combating such organizations.

Finally, Yang Sanyuan, Director of the Town CPPCC Working Committee and President of the Anti-Cult Branch, put forward three requirements: First, further enhance ideological awareness and strengthen the sense of responsibility in combating cults; second, intensify publicity and education efforts and ensure that preventive measures are implemented effectively; and third, focus on achieving tangible results and crack down on such activities with strict adherence to the law.

The meeting mandated that all units, in conjunction with efforts to establish “cult-free villages (communities)” and “safe villages (communities),” earnestly carry out anti-cult publicity and educational campaigns. They are to leverage various outreach platforms—such as banners, slogans, display windows, educational warning rooms, and warning walls—to promote anti-cult awareness. Upon returning home, participants are expected to inform their family members, relatives, and friends about the harm cults inflict on society. When encountering cult organizations or suspected individuals, they must refrain from believing or spreading rumors, avoid participation or membership, and promptly report such cases to the town’s Comprehensive Governance (610) Office or local police station. Furthermore, they are encouraged to actively engage in the “Reintegration into Society” initiative, conducting education and rehabilitation for those stubbornly obsessed with Falun Gong, “Actual God,” and other similar groups. By applying scientific knowledge and humanistic care, they should help these individuals reconstruct their social understanding, thereby maximizing efforts to rescue those who have been poisoned by Falun Gong and other cults. Finally, it is imperative to rigorously implement preventive and responsive measures against cults, ensuring that no cult organization has conditions for proliferation, no potential recruits, and no room for expansion, thus fundamentally eradicating the social environment that nurtures and sustains such harmful ideologies.

Prior to the meeting, all participants watched the anti‑cult educational film “The Evil Cult.” Attendees included leaders from the town’s Comprehensive Governance (610) Office, the Religious Affairs Office, and the Publicity Office; the directors of governance and mediation in each village (community); members of the CPC and villagers’ committee of Chengdong Village; all village staff; selected veteran cadres; Party member representatives; village group leaders; and representatives of the general public—totaling more than 100 people. The meeting was chaired by Wang Weizhong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Chengdong Village.
