Recently, Dr. Shen Naizhi, a French‑Chinese physician, together with six descendants of the Shen family from Germany, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, visited Luzhi Town to trace their roots. They were accompanied by Mei Jianqin and Gu Minjuan, deputy directors of the Foreign Affairs Office of Wuzhong District, and Yang Sanyuan, director of the CPPCC Working Committee of Luzhi Town.

The Shen family is a prominent and affluent clan in Luzhi Town. During the Guangxu era, Shen Kuangfu, the great-great-grandfather of the Shen clan, founded the Fuli Academy. His eldest grandson, Shen Baihan, devoted himself to education, bringing benefits to the local community and winning the deep affection of the people.

Dr. Shen and his delegation visited the Shen Family’s ancestral home, Shen Baihan’s former and new residences, and the former site of the Wansheng Rice Mill, paying their respects to their forebears, recalling the bygone days of their fathers’ generation, and marveling at Luzhi Town’s profound cultural heritage and its exemplary preservation of historic sites. They also urged the accompanying descendants of the Shen family to return often to their hometown in Luzhi.

Yang Sanyuan, Director of the Town CPPCC Working Committee, briefed the guests on the long-term plan for the preservation and development of the ancient town, highlighting the restoration and exhibition setup of the Shen Residence. He also explained in detail that the new Shen Baihan Residence will be preserved and restored to its original Republican-era style. Dr. Shen expressed his willingness to provide additional materials to enrich the exhibits at the Shen Residence and to contribute to the restoration of both the Shen Residence and the Shen Family Ancestral Hall, thereby helping to carry forward Luzhi Town’s history and culture. In addition, Dr. Shen presented a commemorative album of the Shen family to the Foreign Affairs Office and to our town.

Le Jiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and Head of the Publicity Department, visited Luzhi to conduct a field inspection of cultural and tourism initiatives.

A training workshop organized by the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau paid a visit to Luzhi for observation and training.
