On May 9, the Party branch of the tourism company held its May-themed Party Day event, “Waste Sorting: Party Members Take the Lead,” along with a democratic recommendation meeting for prospective Party members. The event was divided into two phases. In the morning, Peng Suhua, Deputy Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Luzhi Town, and Hu Meizhen, Secretary of the Party branch of the tourism company, led more than ten Party members and volunteers to Hubang Village. There, in collaboration with the village’s Party General Branch, they carried out a paired‑building initiative under the theme “Two Strongholds, One Heart—Jointly Building a Beautiful New Hubang,” adopting a model of “branch-led, Party member-driven, and cadre‑facilitated” participation.

Party members and volunteers, embodying the spirit of not shying away from dirt, hardship, or fatigue, worked in close coordination to address such issues as illegal dumping, littering, and unauthorized stacking and placement within Hubang Village, thereby enhancing the prestige of the Party flag and the luster of the Party emblem through their concrete actions. Inspired by the dedication of party members and volunteers, many villagers have also stepped forward to join the cleanup efforts.

During the event, participants also took on the role of “public educators,” sharing knowledge about waste sorting with residents and actively encouraging them to embrace a sense of collective responsibility for maintaining the village’s environment. They were urged to abandon harmful habits such as littering, indiscriminate dumping, and unauthorized construction, and to adopt civilized, health‑conscious lifestyles. On that day, mindful that summer had arrived and the weather was set to grow hot, the Party branch of the tourism company presented villagers with a fan from the “Duan Duan Has a Gift” series—part of the cultural‑creative merchandise offered at the Luzhi Ancient Town scenic area—to help them beat the heat.

In the afternoon, in accordance with the relevant arrangements and requirements of the Luzhi Town Party Committee, the Tourism Company’s Party Branch convened a general meeting of all party members to democratically recommend candidates for the 2020 pool of prospective party members and to convey the spirit of higher-level meetings on waste-sorting initiatives. The meeting was chaired by Comrade Hu Meizhen, Secretary of the Party Branch.
According to the meeting agenda, Comrade Hu Meizhen first conveyed to the attending Party members the Town Party Committee’s notice on recommending candidates for Party membership and the relevant requirements, and introduced the basic information of the two applicants who met the eligibility criteria. The two applicants then each presented their intentions to join the Party, their personal backgrounds, and their ideological and professional circumstances. Subsequently, in accordance with the principles of objectivity and impartiality, the attending Party members conducted a serious and anonymous vote, and based on the voting results, selected the candidates for the 2020 branch-level list of prospective Party members.
Subsequently, Comrade Gu Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch, conveyed the notice for the May-themed Party Day activity titled “Waste Sorting: Party Members Take the Lead,” and also communicated and studied the spirit of the Suzhou Municipal Conference on Promoting Household Waste Sorting.
Finally, the branch also convened a symposium with Party members and the general public, as well as a meeting of the branch committee. After extensively soliciting opinions from Party members and the masses, reviewing the recommendations from mass organizations, and conducting thorough deliberations, the branch finalized the list of candidates for active Party membership and submitted it to the town Party committee.
Through this initiative, all members of the Tourism Company’s Party branch have demonstrated, through concrete actions, a shared sense of unity that brings together township‑affiliated units and paired villages in joint development and mutual support. They have also bolstered the morale, energy, and spirit of Party members and cadres, while guiding the public to actively engage in improving the living environment. In the next phase, the Tourism Company’s Party branch will continue to collaborate with the Huhang Village Party General Branch on a variety of paired‑construction activities, providing practical assistance to help the village Party organization fully implement the “three waters and one green” ecological‑environmental development strategy—“demolish thoroughly, tidy up neatly, sweep clean, and green it”—and build a beautiful, thriving new Huhang.
