A Midsummer “Cultivation” Encounter
“Camp” in Luzhi
Luzhi, historically known as “Fuli,” boasts a history that dates back two thousand five hundred years and is widely regarded as the “Museum of Ancient Chinese Bridges.”
Here, steeped in cultural heritage and blessed with picturesque scenery, it is one of the six ancient towns of the Jiangnan region. It is home to the Luohan statues at Baosheng Temple, among the first batch of nationally designated key cultural relics protection sites, as well as a rich array of intangible cultural heritage—such as Suzhou Luzhi’s water-town women’s attire, the Lianxiang dance, and the time-honored art of making Luzhi radishes—each imbued with distinct folk traditions.
“Research” is all about knowledge.
Growing Through Learning
The “Luduan Class” summer camp seamlessly integrates visits to the ancient town’s scenic spots with educational field trips. While exploring cultural landmarks such as Baosheng Temple, the Shen Residence, and Wansheng Rice Mill, the program features hands-on experiences in intangible cultural heritage—like practicing Lianxiang dance, crafting water-town costumes, and making radish dried goods—enabling children to “learn through travel and travel while learning,” and enjoy a fulfilling, joyful vacation.
