Welcome to Luzhi Ancient Town!

Luzhi

Endless summer fun—The “Luduan Class” children’s summer camp is now in full swing!

This summer camp seamlessly integrates visits to historic town attractions with educational field trips. While exploring cultural sites such as Baosheng Temple, the Shen Residence, and Wansheng Rice Mill, participants engage in hands-on experiences of intangible cultural heritage—ranging from performing the Lianxiang dance to crafting water-town costumes and making radish dried products—thus opening a window for young learners to discover one of China’s first batch of nationally recognized historic and cultural towns.

“Luduan Class” Summer Camp

Day One

Morning: Visit Baosheng Temple

With a history spanning more than 1,500 years, Baosheng Temple was once one of the “Four Hundred and Eighty Temples of the Southern Dynasties.” Here, children explore ancient relics and secluded corners, admiring such treasures as sculpted arhat figures on the walls, stone sutra pillars, and a massive iron bell, while savoring the Tang‑era elegance and Song‑dynasty charm that have endured through the ages. Under the guidance of museum staff, they hold colorful Lianxiang sticks, move to the rhythm of music, and personally experience the exquisite beauty of Luzhi’s intangible cultural heritage.

Afternoon: Explore the ancient town and learn about bridge culture.

Nestled at the confluence of five lakes and six waterways, the ancient town of Luzhi boasts nine historic streets laid out parallel to its rivers and canals, crisscrossing one another, while 41 ancient bridges from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties link them in seamless succession. Children wander through the old streets brimming with the warmth of everyday life, along winding alleyways, and across exquisitely crafted bridges—savoring local delicacies, discovering the timeless beauty that time has gently preserved, and absorbing the refined cultural spirit of Jiangnan.

Visiting the Shen Residence: A Masterful Brush Captures the Innocent Hearts of Children

Step into the Shen Residence and admire the elegance and exquisite craftsmanship of traditional Jiangnan vernacular architecture, while learning about the story of the Shen family. Here, children let their imaginations run wild, using their brushes to bring charming, childlike creations to life on postcards and fans. You can take your finished artwork home with you!
