Intangible Cultural Heritage inheritor Zhou Yonggan visited the Luzhi Scenic Area to provide guidance on hand-rowed boat operations.

Recently, Zhou Yonggan, the representative inheritor of the Zhuhong wooden boat‑making technique, visited the Luzhi Scenic Area to provide guidance on the operation of hand‑rowed boats. Zhou Xuezong, General Manager of Luzhi Tourism Company, along with Deputy General Manager Xie Peihong and Director of the Tour Boat Department Shen Jusheng, accompanied him on a tour to assess the status of the hand‑rowed boats at the Luzhi Scenic Area.
Since the age of 16, Mr. Zhou Yonggan has studied the art of wooden boat construction under his father’s guidance, mastering the craftsmanship of various traditional wooden vessels. He has designed and developed a range of innovative wooden boats—including urban sanitation craft, scenic‑area pleasure barges, sightseeing and leisure boats, and dragon boats—which have enjoyed strong sales across more than 20 provinces and municipalities nationwide and have also been exported to countries such as Japan, the Netherlands, the United States, and Germany. In June 2008, the Zhuhong wooden boat‑making technique was inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Mr. Zhou Yonggan was designated as a representative inheritor of the second batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage projects.
Mr. Zhou Yonggan visited the Luzhi Scenic Area on this occasion, touring the new cruise vessels at the Wansheng Rice Wharf and the Cultural Park Wharf. He also held an in-depth discussion with Mr. Zhou, the company’s general manager, on technical aspects of the new boats and offered several expert recommendations. Both parties expressed their intention to continue dialogue and strengthen cooperation.
