The provincial “Human Settlement and Environment Exemplary Award” inspection team paid a visit to Luzhi to conduct an on-site assessment and provide guidance.

On September 27, an inspection team for the Provincial “Model Award for Human Settlement and Environment,” organized by the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development, visited Luzhi to review and provide guidance on the town’s application for the award. Relevant leaders from the municipal and district housing and urban–rural development bureaus, as well as from Luzhi Town, accompanied the delegation. The expert panel conducted an on-site assessment of the implementation of Luzhi Town’s special water‑environment remediation program and heard a briefing on the town’s efforts to apply for the “Model Award for Human Settlement and Environment.” They expressed full recognition of the work undertaken and the achievements attained by Luzhi Town in the field of water‑environment governance.
In the afternoon, the expert panel also visited the ancient town scenic area, taking a traditional hand‑rowed boat to experience firsthand the picturesque waterways of the Jiangnan region. At the Jiangnan Cultural Park, the crystal‑clear river, the vibrant aquatic vegetation along its banks, and the agile fish swimming freely all vividly conveyed the charm of Luzhi’s quintessential Jiangnan waterside landscape. Mayor Lu Zhenhua explained that this area was once home to a chemical plant; in order to protect the river and provide residents with a better living environment, the entire facility was relocated. Upon hearing this, the experts expressed great satisfaction, commending Luzhi’s exemplary efforts in water‑environment protection. They urged the town to leverage projects as drivers of development, further strengthen water‑environment governance, adopt scientific planning, ensure rigorous implementation, and promote the harmonious integration of environmental, economic, and social progress across the entire community. In response, Luzhi Town stated that it would seize the opportunity presented by its application for the provincial “Human Settlements and Environmental Excellence Award” to intensify its water‑environment management, placing greater emphasis on coordinated, synchronized, and progressive improvements to achieve an even more beautiful and sustainable environment.
