On June 22, Song Zhaosu, former Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee, paid a visit to the Luzhi Ancient Town Scenic Area, accompanied by Wu Qiurong, Deputy Mayor of Luzhi Town.
Secretary Song and his delegation inspected the construction and management of several cultural sites, including Baosheng Temple, the Ye Shengtao Memorial Hall, the Xiao Residence, and the Water‑Town Costume Museum. At each stop, Secretary Song listened carefully to briefings and took detailed notes. While visiting the millennium‑old Baosheng Temple, he inquired in depth about the restoration and conservation of its half‑hall mural arhats and the Song‑dynasty Hall of Heavenly Kings, as well as the historical and architectural characteristics of these heritage treasures. He expressed strong approval for Luzhi Town’s consistent adherence to the principle of “restoring the old as the old” in safeguarding its cultural relics. At the Water‑Town Costume Museum, Secretary Song also heard a briefing on the preservation of local costume culture and commended Luzhi Town’s approach of balancing cultural inheritance with innovative development.
Secretary Song pointed out that Luzhi is a thousand-year-old ancient town with a long history, numerous historical sites, a profound cultural heritage, and a rich tradition of distinguished figures. While steadfastly safeguarding the town’s cultural heritage, we must also delve deeply into its unique local cultural characteristics, foster and expand the cultural tourism industry, boost regional development, improve people’s livelihoods, and deliver tangible benefits to the community.
