Gathering in the golden autumn to sing of harmony, on October 27, to warmly welcome the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and vividly showcase the spirit of the town’s people—hardworking, pioneering, and innovative as they embark on a second wave of entrepreneurship and strive for transformation and upgrading to build a better home—the town of Luzhi solemnly presented the sixth “October Song Festival” at the ancient stage of the Jiangnan Cultural Park.
This year’s October Singing Festival, themed “Harmonious Luzhi, a Happy Home,” was hosted by the Luzhi Town Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Luzhi Town People’s Government, and jointly organized by the Luzhi Town Federation of Trade Unions, the Women’s Federation, the Youth League Committee, the Publicity Office, and the Cultural and Sports Center. The festival received enthusiastic participation from all administrative villages (communities), municipal and town‑level units, town‑affiliated enterprises, as well as private and foreign‑invested companies, with a total of 21 outstanding performances submitted by these entities. Following on‑site judging by professional panelists and audience votes on the 17th of this month, 12 entries emerged as standouts and advanced to the final gala of this year’s October Singing Festival.
The concert opened with a rousing rendition of “Stepping into the New Era,” which guided the audience in experiencing the remarkable transformations China has undergone since the launch of reform and opening-up, inspiring everyone to warmly welcome the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and to enthusiastically dedicate themselves to Luozhi Town’s new phase of entrepreneurial development. Following this, a series of song-and-dance performances—featuring such beloved classics as “Beautiful Scenery of Suzhou,” “Today Is Your Birthday,” and “Let Us Sing Mountain Songs for the Party”—fully expressed the heartfelt love of the town’s residents for their hometown, their country, and the Party, igniting an electrifying atmosphere throughout the event. The concert concluded with “Luozhi Girls Joyfully Harvest Water Chestnuts,” using the unique perspective of Luozhi’s celebrated specialty—the water chestnut—and the lively, graceful dances of the local women to paint a vivid picture of Luozhi Town’s harmonious progress, abundant achievements, and the happy, prosperous lives of its people.
The Sixth October Song Festival is a key component of Luzhi Town’s cultural program commemorating the 91st anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, as well as celebrating the upcoming 18th National Congress. Serving as a platform for these celebrations and drawing on the experiences of previous editions, the October Song Festival has not only ushered in a new phase in the development of grassroots cultural and artistic endeavors in Luzhi Town but has also provided crucial cultural support for the town’s comprehensive implementation of the district Party committee’s work plan—“Welcoming the 18th National Congress and Advancing Toward Modernization”—and for the vigorous pursuit of its goal of “a second entrepreneurial drive and transformation and upgrading.”
