On the afternoon of September 17, the Ancient Town Management Committee and the Town Comprehensive Governance Office jointly convened a meeting on enhancing tourism safety in Luzhi Town. The meeting was attended by 18 representatives from 16 departments, including the town’s safety supervision, quality supervision, culture and health, ethnic and religious affairs, police station, traffic police, health supervision, and tourism companies. The meeting was chaired by Zhu Xuexin, Vice Chairman of the Town People’s Congress.

First, the Town Comprehensive Governance Office refined and disaggregated the work tasks of each member unit of the 2013 Townwide Tourism Safety Enhancement Task Force, clearly defining each unit’s responsibilities, specific requirements, and deadlines for completion.

Subsequently, the Safety Supervision Office, the tourism company, and other relevant entities discussed the progress of the previous phase of work, the current safety situation, and the key challenges and priority issues encountered in their operations.

Vice Chairman Zhu Xuexin fully commended the achievements of all member units of the Tourism Safety Enhancement Task Force in the previous phase. At the same time, he cautioned that it is imperative to remain acutely aware of the numerous safety hazards still present across all sectors of the tourism industry. He urged each unit to conscientiously fulfill its tourism‑safety oversight responsibilities in accordance with its respective functions, working together to advance the town’s efforts to enhance tourism safety.

Finally, Chairman Zhu put forward three points: First, we must deepen our understanding and further strengthen our sense of urgency and responsibility in ensuring the safe operation of the tourism industry. All units are required to strengthen organizational leadership and management of tourism safety production, ensuring that our town’s tourism safety efforts maintain a sound and steady momentum. Second, we must ensure accountability and treat tourism safety as a key priority, addressing it with utmost diligence and effectiveness. Relevant authorities shall, in accordance with the principles of “local jurisdiction and tiered responsibility,” “whoever is in charge bears responsibility,” and the “dual-responsibility” system, ensure the safe operation of the tourism sector. At the same time, they should establish and improve emergency response plans for sudden public emergencies in the tourism industry, and refine institutional mechanisms for tourism safety oversight, reporting of major incidents, and other related tasks. Third, prioritize key areas and ensure the effective implementation of all measures related to tourism safety for the current period. Strengthen interdepartmental coordination to forge a unified regulatory force for tourism safety, while conducting thorough pre-holiday safety inspections. Educate and guide tourist attractions, tour guides, and all employees to proactively and conscientiously enhance the quality of their services, and further bolster their awareness of workplace safety in the tourism sector, thereby making new contributions to building a harmonious and high‑quality tourism industry.

Chairman Zhu emphasized that ensuring tourism safety is a responsibility of paramount importance and a daunting task. All units and departments must, in accordance with the work requirements set forth at this meeting, further align their thinking, deepen their understanding, clarify their responsibilities, and strengthen implementation measures, so as to comprehensively safeguard tourism safety both now and in the period ahead. They should also proactively ensure the safety of tourists during holiday periods such as the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, thereby maintaining a stable tourism‑safety situation throughout the town and making an even greater contribution to Lüzhí Town’s efforts to become a 5A‑rated scenic area.
