The Suzhou Municipal Planning Bureau visited Luzhi Town to conduct an inspection of disaster-prevention measures in this renowned historical and cultural town.

Recently, the Suzhou Municipal Planning Bureau, in collaboration with the Municipal Housing and Urban–Rural Development Bureau, the Safety Supervision Bureau, the Cultural Relics Bureau, the Fire Brigade, and the Wuzhong District Planning Sub‑Bureau, conducted a comprehensive inspection of disaster‑prevention measures in the Luzhi Ancient Town area. Wu Qiurong, a member of the Town Party Committee, Chairman of the Town Federation of Trade Unions, and Director of the Ancient Town Management Committee, along with Zhu Xuexin, Vice Chairman of the Town People’s Congress, accompanied the inspection, together with heads of the Ancient Town Management Committee, the Village Construction Office, the Safety Supervision Office, the Firefighting Detachment, and other relevant departments.

The inspection team first conducted an on-site assessment of disaster‑prevention facilities—including fire hydrants, fire pumps, firefighting vessels, and fire extinguishers—as well as their deployment across the ancient town. They then heard briefings from Luzhi Town and the District Planning Sub‑Bureau on the town’s overall disaster‑prevention efforts, along with a report on the district‑wide disaster‑prevention inspection and排查 activities.

The inspection team fully commended Luzhi Town for its extensive efforts in disaster prevention within the historic town: first, its disaster‑prevention systems and mechanisms are relatively sound; second, its public awareness campaigns are conducted with due diligence; third, its facilities are appropriately configured, with the use of fireboats particularly emblematic of the town’s water‑town character; and fourth, beyond firefighting, it also maintains well‑developed equipment and contingency plans for flood control and emergency response. The team further urged Luzhi Town to address the comments and recommendations from various departments by conducting self‑assessments to identify shortcomings and to refine and implement follow‑up measures.
