On the afternoon of July 20, Zhou Xiaomin, Deputy District Mayor of Wuzhong District, led officials from the Tourism Bureau and the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to Luzhi to attend a seminar on the comprehensive upgrading of the ancient town.
At the meeting, relevant departments presented detailed reports on upgrading the Luzhi Ancient Town to a 4A‑level scenic area and on the second-phase development plan for the town’s commercial and cultural offerings. Leaders from the Tourism Bureau and the Culture and Sports Bureau offered their expert recommendations. District Chief Zhou emphasized that the upgrade of the ancient town’s 4A status should be aligned with the town’s overall tourism master plan, leveraging Luzhi’s rich cultural heritage and highlighting a distinct thematic identity. He also stressed that, capitalizing on the momentum of the joint World Heritage nomination, efforts should focus not only on improving physical infrastructure but also on enhancing service quality. Secretary Yao Dong of the Luzhi Town Party Committee pledged that the town would firmly center its development around the signature theme of “An Educational Wetland and a Cultural Oxygen Bar,” thereby further strengthening Luzhi’s reputation as a renowned historical and cultural town.
At the meeting, Deputy District Mayor Zhou Xiaomin and his delegation also heard reports on the development of the Lüzhui Chenghu Agricultural Park into an international slow city, as well as on its cultural, sports, and educational initiatives.
