As a site on the Tentative List for World Heritage, Luzhi Town has taken proactive measures to prepare for the 28th session of the World Heritage Committee. The town Party Committee and the town government have undertaken comprehensive preparatory work, adhering to high standards and stringent requirements in both infrastructure and institutional frameworks.

Suzhou·Wuzhong (Beijing) Tourism Promotion Event

On September 8, 2004, the “Taihu Journey—Suzhou·Wuzhong (Beijing) Tourism Promotion Conference” was successfully held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The event brought together hundreds of travel agency executives from across the country, as well as leaders from government and the tourism sector. Speeches were delivered by prominent figures including Zhang Huaixi, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Li Kefu, of the China Tourism Association; Yuan Ding, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Administration; Qin Xingyuan, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal People’s Congress; and Zhou Peigen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Luzhi Town.

Hong Kong film star Siu Fong-fong, through the Wuzhong District Foreign Affairs Office and the Wuzhong District Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, donated to the Luzhi Ancient Town a collection of her awards—trophies and medals—as well as various artifacts and photographic materials, totaling fourteen items. This donation has not only enriched the holdings of the Siu Fong-fong Film and Art Museum but has also added a new highlight to Luzhi Ancient Town’s tourism offerings.
