The Tang‑dynasty banner pole and Song‑dynasty pedestal, the stone bracket for a ceremonial flagpole, and the large iron bell are collectively known as the “Three Treasures of Ancient Artifacts,” while the thousand‑year‑old ginkgo, the century‑old wisteria, and the century‑old goji berry bush are revered as the “Three Wonders of Ancient Trees.”

There are also the clay‑sculpted arhats created by Yang Huizhi, known as the “Sage of Sculpture” of the Tang dynasty, which showcase his superb and unparalleled artistic skill. Meanwhile, remnants such as Qingfeng Pavilion, Chuihong Bridge, and the Yachi Pond and Yazhao Marsh recount the reclusive delights of the Tang poet Lu Guimeng.

The Shen Residence was built by Shen Kuangfu, the grandfather of Shen Baihan. Its layout is well-organized, and five distinct courtyards remain: the entrance hall, the sedan‑car hall, the ceremonial hall, the main hall known as “Lexiantang,” and the upper‑floor hall. The complex exemplifies a blend of official and commercial functions, with shops at the front and living quarters at the rear, and features a left‑wing workshop and a right‑wing shop. Within the main hall, Lexiantang, a couplet on the supporting pillars reads: “Success in business springs from a steadfast resolve; the joy of learning lies in the noble talents nurtured by exemplary education,” encapsulating the Shen family’s tradition of commerce and their commitment to scholarship and moral cultivation.

The Shen Residence boasts elegant architecture, refined ornamentation, and exquisitely detailed carvings, making it a quintessential example of Suzhou‑style classical architecture. While appreciating the timeless ingenuity of traditional construction and the aesthetic sensibilities of the Suzhou school, Shen Baihan’s contributions—founding Puli Primary School, dedicating himself to local public welfare, and taking part in efforts to preserve Tang‑dynasty sculpted arhats—are equally worthy of recognition.

In 1956, the Luzhi Supply and Marketing Cooperative merged three private shops—Zhang Yuanfeng, Shen Chenghao, and Dingkang—to establish the Wuxian Luzhi Sauce Factory. In 2003, the factory relocated. By 2009, the original factory buildings had been demolished, leaving only three storefronts intact.

The Luozhi Sauce Factory’s retail outlet still sells Luozhi radishes, pickled vegetables, and other products. Stop by for a visit and take home a little souvenir.

　Xihui Restaurant is located at No. 8 Shangtang Street, Xihui. Founded in 1943 under the original name “Dachun Guan Noodle House,” the restaurant underwent renovation and expansion in 1987 and was subsequently renamed “Xihui Restaurant.” In June 2018, Xihui Restaurant was recognized as a member of the “Time-Honored Brands of China” program. In September 2018, its registered trademark, “Luzhi Dachun Guan,” was designated as a “Time-Honored Brand of Suzhou.”

At Shenglian Renjia, the Aozao noodles retain the silky‑smooth, springy texture characteristic of Suzhou-style thin noodles. The two most popular toppings—braised pork ribs and smoked fish—are meticulously prepared: the ribs are tender and juicy, while the smoked fish is delicately flavorful and tender, leaving a sweet, lingering aftertaste with every bite. Savoring a bowl of Aozao noodles amidst such a picturesque setting is both comforting and utterly delightful.

In addition, numerous gourmet spots on Xihui Street—such as Tianyi Aowei Restaurant and Xihui Crispy Pork Trotters—as well as specialty snacks like Youzanzi and dried pork jerky are all worth a visit.
