On November 17, a team of experts convened to review the “Protection Plan for the Luzhi Historical and Cultural District” conducted an on-site inspection in Luzhi Town despite the rain. Chen Julin, Deputy Secretary of the Luzhi Town Party Committee and Town Mayor, along with Dai Chunrong, Deputy Director of the Ancient Town Management Committee, and other officials, accompanied the delegation.
The expert review panel was led by Professor Zhao Zhongshu, a senior planner at the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, and comprised numerous specialists from the Provincial Planning Institute, the Nanjing Municipal Planning Institute, the Cultural Heritage Protection Division of the Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, and other institutions. The panel conducted on-site inspections—braving the rain—at the first-phase development of the ancient town, Baosheng Temple, and the Shangtang and Xiatang areas of the East Market, among other sites, and accorded high praise to their historical significance and current state of preservation.
It is reported that the “Protection Plan for the Luzhi Historical and Cultural District” is scheduled to undergo a formal expert review on November 18.
